Things that tie you down…

Hi everyone
During lunch today, I listened to 2 colleagues talking about the work they had to do in their gardens.  One said how he had a huge bamboo plant in his front yard and he needed special equipment to chop it down so he was heading into town on Saturday to buy it.
The other went on to explain how he knew a friend who was installing some sort of decking balcony in his back garden.  Both of them had to buy extra bits in order to install, chop down, cut up, dig out, throw out or hammer together something new.
I found myself starting to feel really frightened, it was weird.  All I could think of was “Oh no, that would mean even more to tie me down to that place and I wouldn’t be able to leave!!”.  I can’t tell you how amazing it is to know that come August,  all that I own will be reduced to less than 10 boxes.  Life can be strange…
To help all of this, I am having an open house day on Sunday where hopefully I can sell/get away more and more of my things.
So any guesses where this lovely location is? South Africa? Spain? Portugal? Italy? Australia?  Nope, guess again.  It was taken off the west coast of England.  Don’t believe me?  Well, there is a group of very pretty islands off the far west coast of England, called the Scilly Isles.  You have to drive to Penzance and then catch a ferry to the main island.  I did a week’s diving holiday there and the islands were just gorgeous.  Under the water, there were rocks covered in jewel anemones in yellow, pink, purple, green and orange, so very pretty.  On the islands, were hills and hills of foxgloves and the sea water was a really lovely turquoise colour which seemed off for something so close to England.  We took one day to walk around the whole of one island and saw some breathtaking scenery.  I can really recommend it but only for summer holidays…after all, it’s still England :-)
Night night

To each his own- I can't imagine not having the things to tie me down. Not right now- those things provide the stability and comfort my kids need from having a safe place to call their own. Now don't get me wrong- I realize a lot of this stuff is unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but its also part of what makes home home, and home the place where we want to come back to. Maybe one day after my kids have left the nest, and my doggies have passed on- but for right now, I need my own place to hang my hat!

Hi Brenda, I agree absolutely. I went through a stage last year when I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed from egg slicers to table cloths and coasters. I guess it has everything to do with your situation in life and what you want out of it. Yes, each to his own.
Thanks for your comment, Anonymous, its always great to get feedback :-)
