The Full Moon Party – what is it really like?

Hi everyone

I know I’ve been quiet for ages but it seems life doesn’t stop here on Koh Samui even if it does often consist of lounging on the beach with a cocktail or writing through the night to meet publisher deadlines.

Lounging on the beach

I thought I would kick off my blog again with a question to you. Since I am living on Koh Samui, which is a short 30 minute ferry ride across to the island of Koh Phangan, home to the famous (or notorious) Full Moon Party, I thought I’d ask you what YOU thought of it.

Is it the craziest, most amazing beach party in the world? Or is it an excuse for youngsters to drink themselves silly and indulge in all sorts of forbidden chemicals, including cocaine and ecstasy?

World Nomads is a company whose mission is: “From great value travel insurance, travel safety advice, language guides and free online travel journals, WorldNomads.com provides the tools to keep our customers travelling safely.”

They travelled to Koh Phangan to experience this party first hand and here is what they had to say about it:

What are your views? Have you been? What have you heard? What was your experience?

Just look how easy it is to comment… :-)

  2. I have to say that it is a pretty cool thing when youre younger. I have been 3 diff times and the first time being when I was 23. I was able to make it the whole night and had a blast. The last time I went, at age 27, I was over it pretty quickly. I would say everyone should experience it at least once though.

Thanks for commenting… I haven’t yet been using my age as an excuse. It’s sad because I’ve fallen into the trap of believing all the negative hype.
Are there only youngsters there or people of all ages?

Tell me what you think about this post or just say hi...
